I ordered an intermediate size car. When I went to pick it up they gave me a compact car. I showed her my paperwork and she still wasn’t going to give me an intermediate size. I insisted and she finally gave me a little bigger car.

Due to Covid and some unexpected medical conditions I was unable to travel yet they wouldn't allow me to cancel my rental. That was (much needed) money out the window. When I tried to connect with an agent there was no consideration of circumstance and I was highly frustrated and disappointed.

We were stranded while traveling, rented and paid the deposit on the vehicle, made other arrangements to get back home, then went to the airport to pick up the vehicle, and we were extremely rudely and inhumanely asked when did you make the reservation. When I replied when we made the reservation, and explained that we were travellers in distress, we were informed that they had no vehicles, they were overbooked, that for some reason, which was not explained, corporate had left the booking open. Over and above this, we were treated very poorly by the women in charge of the Dollar / Hertz counter at Grand Junction, CO Airport. There was not the slightest bit of regret, sorrow, not the slightest bit of apology. She appeared to be taking pleasure from the continued misfortune of our distressed travel group. We will never rent from Dollar or Hertz in our lives again, not should any traveller that has any self respect or any sense.

Our check in agent (Matthew) couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. He did the walk around with us and noted every possible scratch, dent or other discrepancy and initialed them. He also encouraged me to video the walk around since we would be turning the car in to a different location. He then offered to go over all the features of the car with us. We’ve never had that kind of attention from an agent before.

Such a small airport that there isn't an actual drop off booth. Just park the rental car in the Enterprise row, lock the door, drop off the keys at the counter and go. So easy, no fuss.

It was easy and fast doing the paperwork and getting the car in Grand Junction, and the car we got was better than the small suv I’d expected (we got a Subaru Forester). There were two things that could have been better…. 1) The tire pressure light came on within the first 24hr of having the car and it was frustrating not having the owner’s manual ready at hand. I kept forgetting to look it up online because I had no signal to look it up on my phone while in the car (in remote parts of Colorado) and would forget as soon as I got out of the car. Ended up taking it to a friendly local service station to get the tires checked and filled. None of them looked low. The guy said the light goes on when the tires are just 2 psi below where they are supposed to be. 2) very unclear what to do with the car at the airport when we retuned it. No instructions anywhere. Had to ask a guy who happened to know…. Just park it in an open space in the lot with your rental company’s sign on it and then walk in and return your keys. That process could have been made clearer from the get-go!

The interior of the vehicle was very dirty. Carpet was NOT vacuumed, dash and surfaces were not wiped down, so I know it was not sanitized. My wife and I had to sanitize the entire vehicle prior to our leaving the lot. This is a very sensitive time and to have a rental vehicle not properly prepared for a guest is disappointing. Had we not been late for an engagement, I would have returned the vehicle and rented elsewhere.

Budget booked my pickup for 12pm but the store closed at 12pm. I arrived for my booking and no one was there. I went to the rental store at the airport, around 15 minutes away and was told that the same booking was around $200 dollars higher at that location. I rejected the offer and got on the internet and found a similar booking through budget for the same price as I was going to pay at the original pickup location. Then when I was checking out, the rep attempted to get me to sign paperwork that showed a rate around $200 higher than I was quoted on Kayak. I told him the paperwork was incorrect and he semi-sheepishly told me that he would get new paperwork that reflected the correct price. Then when we dropped the car off they lost the keys and told us we lost the keys even though the keys were straight away in plain sight in the car when we left it. Now I am going to be charged some exorbitant fee to replace the keys they lost. Never will rent from Budget or Avis again.

We had a stone kicked up from an 18 wheeler and was concerned about how to handle the issue with Hertz since were didn't take out the extra coverage. We called our insurance and had everything arranged but did have a deductible. When we pulled into Hertz, the al who managed our car in Phoenix gave us a flat rate which was less then our deductible and did it all in one transaction. I had envisioned having to hassle with a manager but it was painless and we paid the flat amount. Car was great and we couldn't have been happier!

Car wasn't ready she we arrived to Grand Junction, which wasn't a big deal but they did ask us if we would take a smaller car but it turned out the price was higher for the smaller car. We went to lunch and got the bigger car - a Nissan Rogue, which was very ice.

Nothing... there was no car!

No car! I drove 3 hours to pick up a car I reserved with Kayak. I had never used Kayak to reserve and I certainly won't use it or recommend it ever again! When I arrived they said that even though I had a reservation that they were out of cars! No other companies had cars either and it left me totally stranded! How can u make a reservation without making sure the company actually had a car first? Extremely disappointed and very frustrated.

When I showed up to pick up my vehicle they had no cars left. I asked to upgrade when they did have more cars driven in from a nearby hertz. They said "those are for the people who reserved a larger car" and that I reserved a economy. I mentioned that they gave away my car so why can't they alow me to have somebody else's and if they would please tell me why they gave away my car. When I asked her to explain she simply said "no" honest to God she said no she won't explain. I recorded this conversation on my phone. Will be happy to send the video of this conversation. I was calm and did not yell. I just simply got "no" for an answer when I asked if she would explain. Was a arrogant horrific answer.
