From the awe-inspiring old quarter Hoàn Kiem District to the beautiful French-influenced streets to the beautiful lakes of Tây Ho, there’s never a shortage of things to see and do in Hanoi. It is Vietnam’s second largest city, after all. But apart from the many sights it offers, Hanoi is also famous for being the gateway to Halong Bay. From Hanoi, you can reach Halong City by car or bus in three-and-a-half hours.

Like Bali, Lombok features beautiful beaches, diving spots and surf breaks. But it is typically less crowded and more affordable than its extremely popular island neighbour. For travellers who want to reconnect with nature, take a boat ride to one of the nearby motor-vehicle-free islands such as Gili Trawangan, Gili Air or Gili Meno.

Beijing, China — Average airfare down 29% over last year

If you’ve always wanted to travel to the Great Wall of China, now’s your chance. Flights from Singapore to Beijing are on average 29 per cent cheaper than they were last year. Aside from the Great Wall, there are, of course, many other things to see in this expansive capital city. Explore the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Ming tombs.

Jaipur, India — Average airfare down 28% over last year

As part of India’s Golden Triangle, together with Delhi and Agra, Jaipur is considered one of the most beautiful cities, and a must-see for travellers in India. Also known as the “Pink City,” don’t miss the chance to see many of its majestic landmarks such as the Amer Fort (a 16th century fort), Jal Mahal (a palace in the middle of the lake), and, of course, the Hawa Mahal (a unique palace that blends Hindu and Islamic architecture).

Coffee lovers from Singapore would be delighted to know that flights to Addis Ababa, a city that’s recently rising in popularity as a travel destination, is currently down in price compared with last year. Head to the famous Tomoca, where you can enjoy the best of the best coffee, as well as buy coffee beans to bring back home.

Gold Coast, Australia — Average airfare down 21% over last year

With 30 beaches to its name (Main Beach, Surfer’s Paradise, Broadbeach and Mermaid Beach among the most popular), Australia’s Gold Coast is famous for its endless sunshine, sand and surf breaks. Aside from the beach, the town is also famous for its numerous theme parks such as WhiteWater World, Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Warner Bros. Movie World.

While Southeast Asia has its fair share of fun party islands, experiencing Ibiza is still a different beast all together. Playa d’en Bossa, its longest and most popular beach, offers everything from the best 5-star resorts to budget accommodation, not to mention the coolest parties. At the same time, however notorious Ibiza is for its clubs, this Balearic Isle also offers something more than just the hedonistic parties. Away from the hustle and bustle of Playa d’en Bossa, travellers can also travel to its other parts such as Cala Salada, Sa Pedrera (also fondly called Atlantis) and Santa Eulalia.

Osaka, Japan — Average airfare down 21% over last year

Considered the heart and soul of Japan by many, Osaka has a lot to offer travellers. From an amazing gastronomy scene (with everything from inexpensive street food offerings to Michelin-star restaurants such as Hajime and Fujiya 1935) to a pulsating nightlife to historical landmarks (don’t miss the 16th-century shogunate Osaka Castle), there is a little something for everyone. Got time? Make a side trip to Kyoto, undoubtedly Japan’s most beautiful city, which is located just 35 minutes away from Osaka.

Nairobi, Kenya — Average airfare down 44% over last year

More than just a gateway to many of Kenya’s safari destinations, the capital Nairobi is a destination worth exploring in itself. Apart from its numerous parks and reserves, the capital also offers amazing options for dining and shopping, and features nightlife to rival cosmopolitan cities such as London, Barcelona and even our very own Singapore.

Vientiane, Laos — Average airfare down 45% over last year

Laos is often overlooked for travel destinations such as Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, a benefit to savvy travellers who will enjoy the off-the-beaten-path feel. You could say this low-key atmosphere is part of the country’s charm. See majestic Buddhist temples sans the crowds and enjoy an uninterrupted view of the sunset over the Mekong river with an ice cold Beer Lao in hand.
