I booked a car through kayak/priceline and when I went to pick up the car the car wasn't available. The car I booked was a full size hybrid type. Instead of being able to offer me that car, the other option with similar gas mileage was an economy car. However, this car was an additional $20 a day which doesn't make any sense. Not to mention the car is in terrible condition making the additional $20 a day a slap in the face

The desk for Dollar at Burbank was shown to be on the second level. When we got there, we were told by another car rental company they were on the first level. If there were signs indicating that, they were not very noticeable. We then went down to the first level (hauling our luggage all the time). Returning the car in Palm Springs was a breeze.

I booked my car through Kayak who took me to the Priceline site to book at car at Dollar Rental Cars at the Burbank Airport. When I got to the Airport, with my happy notice from Priceline congratulating me about my rental, the Dollar people could not find my reservation in their system. I showed them the confirmation but it made no difference. They, along with the other car rental agencies had NO cars to rent. We were essentially stuck. Thank you for nothing Kayak and Priceline. It appears whatever you were to communicate to Dollar never got there. Very disappointed. My advice to people looking to rent a car is, you can use Kayak to check prices but to book directly with the Rental Agencies. You just can’t trust these intermediaries.

The car smelled like a smoker had used it before I received it. There was a considerable amount of “charges” deemed as “tax” when I dropped off my vehicle. $46 was charged and the attendant could not tell me the reason behind the charge other than it was a tax. Also, they charged me for gas when I had filled the tank to full before I dropped the car off. If I had not asked for a receipt- this price gauge would have remained in my bill. I will not do business with Avis/Budget again and I will be reporting to the BBB. I was shocked that in these difficult times this rental car company is price gauging people with no reason- there are plenty of cars available to rent at this location and the customer service and attendant were less than accommodating or pleasant picking up and dropping off my vehicle.

The previous rental just before Burbank in Phoenix was the worst we have had. Almost 3 hrs in line to pick up our reserved car. Burbank was great. The drop off point was not found in Santa Barbara, and when calling to ask if we could drop off the car at the Santa Barbara Airport the agent said we would be charged an extra $200. Disappointed in Budget, and my company will now move to another company for car rentals

Reserved a car for my daughter, traveling home from university, during the busy holiday season. The final leg of her trip required a four hour drive home from the airport. When the flight arrived and a rental confirmation email in hand, she was told they had no cars available with a shrug and a "good luck with that" response. Luckily Budget Rentals saved the day. I'm super disappointed with Hertz.

I wanted to extend my rental. The credit card I had on file was lost, and discontinued. They would not take a new credit card over the phone. They said this was for my own protection, and prevents fraudulent car rentals. However the car has already been rented... I had already proven my identity when I picked it up. I was not renting a new car. Unless someone had stolen my car, credit card, and was conscientious enough to call Alamo to extend the rental... there is no reason to worry about fraud. Additionally other large companies take credit card information over the phone. To say it is not a secure method is lazy, and hinders Alamo from providing a better customer experience. The customer service rep agreed that the policy did not make sense in my case, but that she could do nothing about it, it was simply "the policy." To me, then, that is the definition of bad policy. I was forced to return to the airport, out of my way, to prove for the second time I am who I am. Just a terrible customer service experience. I will not be renting with Alamo or affiliated Alamo brands in the future.

I had to pay two times for the insurance. At the end, it cost me around $60 a day, where it should have cost me only $35 per day. Just make sure that they will not charge you twice for the insurance!!

Rented VW Jetta. Got Nissan Altima. I have never driven an Altima before. It has the worst windshield/defrost situation I’ve ever seen. Impossible to keep windows from fogging. Almost got me killed in the hills Thursday and Friday night. Tried it with outside air, circulating air, AC on, heat on, window down. It has to be a flawed design with the windshield. Or the car has a leak somewhere (heater core?). Terrifying driving experience. Surprised there hasn’t been a recall on these things.

The Avis rental car line was obnoxiously long. So long in fact that I went to another rental car company, asked if they had a car I could use, haggled about the price, and rented from that other company. All of this before 1 customer was finished being helped in the Avis line. I will never try and rent from Avis again.

Although I had "Skip the Counter" I couldn't figure out how to do that or where to go, so I ended up standing in line at the counter which took some time since they did not appear to be fully staffed. I would suggest better signage to direct customers where to go to Skip the Counter. The hybrid car I got was awesome. Drop off was excellent -- couldn't have been simpler. Overall pretty satisfied with Avis and would rent again with them.
