Cheap Car Rentals in Kenai Airport

Budget pulled a bait and switch. I reserved a car in January 2022 for our June 2022 vacation. I received a confirmation. I was able to obtain a very good rate because I reserved it ahead of time. However when I called two days before our trip to reconfirm my reservation I was told that the reservation had been canceled. They claim that I canceled it, which I never did . Further there was no cancellation email ever received by me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor they transferred me to three or four different employees who either transferred me to someone else or hung up on me. When I finally was able to speak to someone they said they couldn’t help me, the reservation had been canceled and there’s nothing they can do. BUT, they said that they had the same car available that I had originally reserved and would be happy to rent it to me for THREE TIMES the original quoted price. Budget is a scam! I will never rent from them again. I would never recommend them to anyone.

When we arrived at Anchorage to pick up rental we were told our rental was cancelled by corporate because the rate we got was too cheap. Our rental was supposed to be $227 when we booked in January. They said they would give us a deal for $50 a day plus tax bringing our total just over $600. We asked to talk to manager who finally gave us the rate we booked to in his words “just get us out of there”. We watched the do the same to other renters behind us. The ones we saw just went with it. Shows lack of integrity on budgets part for the switch and bait. Whether it was corporate or the manager at anchorage airport budget show some integrity and honor the rates which you put out. Only time I’ve ever rented a car that someone has tried to taken advantage of me.

I liked the service and ease of booking so quickly.

Budget cancelled without informing us. When we called, they didn't have any cars and said there was nothing they could do.

I arrived to learn that no more sedans were available. I had to pay for an upgrade to get a car that evening...paying for an upgrade on top of an outrageous price. $900 for 4 days. Highway robbery.

Car rental prices in Anchorage are crazy expensive but Kayak/Priceline helped to save $500 for a one week rental. Even with the lower price it was still more than 3X what it should be.

Expensive for a car rental but reasonable compared to other companies

I arrived tired, only to be told I couldn't rent a car because I didn't have my insurance policy with me. Not even the documents on my phone were good enough. So I went over to Thrifty. They had cars, no muss, no fuss, and I ended up paying half of what AVIS was quoting to be hassled. Done with Avis. No more. Buh bye.

We got a free upgrade. Pick up and drop off was very convenient.

I arrived Saturday around noon and there was only one person in line in front of me. I had a very friendly person at the counter. He did tell me they do not accept the 3rd party insurance I had purchased through Allianz but they took the name of my regular car insurance to use instead. This was fine for me but could be a problem for someone who doesn’t have car insurance back home. When I went to get my car instead of being a small Chevy spark hatchback I had reserved it was a ginormous SUV. I went back to the desk and they weren’t able to give me a small economy but they gave me a brand new 2022 Toyota RAV4 hybrid. I was in Alaska for the weekend but had rented a compact since it was what I could afford. It was great to have the RAV4. Upon return check out took about 1 minute and was easy. Overall, I had a decent experience and lucked out on the economy cars being overbooked :)

The gentleman who helped us was great but the hassle with insurance turned into a big fiasco because my insurance didn’t show the exact word “comprehensive liability” which took an extra hour. Might book with another company next go around.

Agent kept trying to upsell which was irritating. Studded tires in a winter location should be mandatory and not cost extra. Gave me a car with no windshield wiper fluid! So unsafe with the weather/road conditions. Had to buy some and put it in. When I returned the car, the agent seemed to not care at all. No apology or anything.

I reserved a mid-sized SUV for $399, but when I arrived they didn’t have anything that size. Instead of upgrading me for the same price they told me that I had reserved a vehicle without AWD and that to rent that vehicle it would be $579. I think this is poor practice and that I was taken advantage of.

I reserved a full size truck. When I arrived at the counter all they had to offer me was a small truck or a minivan and told me they send all their trucks south for the winter. Then why was I allowed to reserve one?? I paid for insurance too on this rental but since thrifty false advertises I went next door to Avis. P.s. I paid for insurance on the thrifty rental through your site. I was charged for it even though I never rented that vehicle.
